About
us
The
Oyster is neither chic nor dull, neither high-end
nor low-rent. We have an off-beat sensibility. Our
tastes in entertainment and lifestyle are more green
corduroy than black silk. Our mission is to be a voice
for Boston's aging adolescents who need to start
401ks, PhD students who serve coffee, and people who
avoid measuring success by traditional means. |

Jim
Furbush
Born into a clan of traveling illusionists of Ukrainian
descent, Furbush left the hardscrabble lifestyle for the more stable
life as a roadie for Journey.
Upon meeting his hero, Steve Perry, Furbush realized that celebrities
are not often what they seem from afar. To alleviate his disappointments
he took to penning short story's from a dank basement along the
Danube River. Unfortunately, many--if not all--of his stories were
obvious Dostoyevski rip offs. Despite this, he is a frequent contributor
to The Oyster,
sending his dispatches by cross-atlantic freight. In his
spare time he spends his afternoons playing All-Time Quarterback
and attempts to raise his batting average above the Mendoza Line.

Amanda
Patterson
Amanda Patterson lived in a ditch called Yosemite
before making the questionable decision to pursue a career in journalism.
She has written for the TAB newspapers, the Somerville
News and the Andover
Townsman. At The
Oyster, she plans on spending
countless hours twirling her hair and staring at the computer screen,
which has a small wine stain in one corner.
